I Can't Donate Money,
How Can I Help?
The individual, family or business may all give aid to the Toledo Community Foundation (TCF) in many ways.
Down Home Shindig Volunteer
To begin, every two years our foundation puts on a very large community fundraiser called A Down Home ShinDig currently located at the beautiful venue Country N Lace. Months of planning and preparations go into making this event memorable and profitable for the cause. Requiring many hands to make it happen.
For the community members that can not donate money to the cause can reach out to our Board of Directors and they would be more than happy to plug in those people wanting to help the foundation wherever they find interest.
Areas of help that would greatly assist the foundation would include:
-
soliciting, gathering, making and delivering silent auction and live auction items.
-
include gift item baskets, as well as constructed or large live auction items.
-
-
Making and delivering desserts for Dessert Auction
-
Site set up and tear down of the Down Home ShinDig event.
-
Preparing the venue requires many labor hours and there will always be a need for "working/lifting hands."
Social Media
Besides the ShinDig fundraising auction evening, people can also greatly assist the foundation through their own Social Network. Promoting the Toledo Community Foundation’s presence in the community, its mission, and its gifting opportunities to your own network helps create a greater reach to get in front of more people in need or wanting to help the cause.
Through promotion and its mission, the Toledo Community Foundation is able to provide perpetual gifting opportunities to families and businesses.

Lastly, administration costs, name tags to board members, and web design costs come from the foundation.
Why Is This Important?
Donating to the Toledo Community Foundation (TCF) is important to both parties. First, TCF is a 501(3)c organization and this status provides the donor a safe and tax benefit platform on which to donate. Our Foundation is a transparent organization where its gifting philosophy and practice is open for all to review and support.
This said, the donor is free of the day to day requests that come before the Board of Directors for funding. The donor is then made comfortable knowing that their donation to TCF will be distributed under TCF's gifting guidelines and recorded practices. The Toledo Community Foundation benefits greatly from individual and corporate donations.
With stronger backing and support, our foundation is able to provide a safety net for all students in need for both academic and activity events that they will encounter while attending the Toledo School District. With future growth, the TCF will be able to assist the school district in larger projects that the district on its own would not have the funds for new programs.
An example of the TCF funding their first school program is occurring now with the opening of the Osprey Cafe at the high school. The Osprey Cafe is a mentoring program, in partnership with Mint City Coffee Co. of Centralia. Students in the Leadership Class and the ASB will learn, run, and maintain a coffee espresso shop there at the school. The real life lessons, and skill sets required to run this program will greatly benefit all those students and sponsors of the program. In addition, this coffee shop will provide the Leadership and ASB students a steady flow of income for their needs throughout the school year.
Donating to the Toledo Community Foundation can be a mutually beneficial experience for you, us, and most importantly the students of our community.
